Pinpoint Test B : An Individual Front Fog Lamp Is Inoperative
- B1 CHECK FOR HCM (HEADLAMP CONTROL MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTCS)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the HCM self-test.
Are any HCM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs) present?
Yes DIAGNOSE the HCM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs) first. REFER to: Headlamps . No GO to B2 - B2 CHECK FOR SUPPLY VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE FOG LAMP
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
LH Fog Lamp
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1322-1 Ground RH Fog Lamp
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1323-1 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to B6 No GO to B3 - B3 REPEAT THE ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST AND CHECK FOR SUPPLY VOLTAGE TO THE FOG LAMP
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
- Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the self-test (required to enable the lamp output driver if DTC U1000:00 is present).
- Measure:

Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1323-1 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes INSTALL a new front fog lamp. REFER to: Front Fog Lamp . No GO to B4 - B4 CHECK FOG LAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280G .
- Measure:
LH Fog Lamp
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1322-1 Ground RH Fog Lamp
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1323-1 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to B5 No REPAIR the circuit. After the repair:If no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are present, TEST the system for normal operation. If DTC U1000:00 is present, CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and REPEAT the self-test (required to enable the lamp output driver if DTC U1000:00 is present). If DTC U3000:49 is present, BCM guided routine is not applicable for this vehicle and market. Replace the component that was faulted through service information diagnosis. - B5 CHECK FOG LAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
LH Fog Lamp

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to B10 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- B6 CHECK THE INOPERATIVE FOG LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to B7 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- B7 CHECK FOR SIGNAL VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE FOG LAMP
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Place the headlamp switch in the PARKLAMPS position and engage the fog lamp switch.
- Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes INSTALL a new front fog lamp. REFER to: Front Fog Lamp . No GO to B8 - B8 CHECK FOG LAMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: For inoperative LH fog lamp, LH Headlamp C1758 .
- Disconnect: For inoperative RH fog lamp, RH Headlamp C1759 .
- Measure:

Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1323-2 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to B9 No REPAIR the circuit. - B9 CHECK FOG LAMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
LH Fog Lamp

Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1323-2 C1759-13
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes CHECK the internal headlamp harness for open or shorted circuits and damaged or pushed-out pins. If the harness is OK, INSTALL a new adaptive front lighting module. Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Ride Height Calibration routine. Follow the scan tool directions. REFER to: Adaptive Front Lighting Module . If the harness is not OK, REPAIR the harness. If the harness cannot be repaired, INSTALL a new headlamp assembly. REFER to: Headlamp Assembly . No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- B10 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all BCM and all related in-line connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM and all related in-line connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, BCM guided routine is not applicable for this vehicle and market. Replace the component that was faulted through service information diagnosis. No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
