Hazard Warning Switch Circuit [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Hazard Flasher Switch Hazard switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Hazard switch on
      OFF: Hazard switch off      		 -

      OK

      Normal conditions listed above are displayed.

  2. INSPECT MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (HAZARD SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the multi-media module receiver assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .
    2. Inspect the multi-media module receiver assembly (hazard switch). Refer to INSPECTION [08/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the H13 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H98-9 (HAZ) - H13-11 (HZSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      H98-9 (HAZ) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H97-12 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   6 

  4. INSPECT RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (HAZARD SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the radio receiver assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .
    2. Inspect the radio receiver assembly (hazard switch). Refer to INSPECTION [08/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the H13 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      W/ MULTI-DISPLAY :

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H90-6 (HAZ) - H13-11 (HZSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      H90-6 (HAZ) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H90-20 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      W/O MULTI-DISPLAY :

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H42-1 (HAZ) - H13-11 (HZSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      H42-1 (HAZ) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H42-9 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   6 

  6. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  7. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2013 - ] 
  8. REPLACE MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  9. REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]
