Overview - Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION

  1. Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Pipe
    • To the intake manifold
    • Tightening specification and sequence Fig 2.
  2. Bolt
    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
  3. Gasket
    • Replace after removing
  4. EGR Temperature Sensor -G98-
  5. Bolt
    • 9 Nm
  6. EGR Cooler
  7. Gasket
    • Replace after removing
  8. Connection
  9. O-Rings
    • Replace after removing
  10. Gasket
    • Replace after removing
  11. EGR Valve 1 -GX5-
  12. Bolt
    • 9 Nm
  13. Bolt
    • 9 Nm
  14. Engine Temperature Control Sensor -G694-
  15. Seal
    • Replace after removing
  16. Bolt
    • Replace after removing
    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 3.
  17. EGR Pipe
    • From the turbocharger
    • If the screw-type clamp position 19 was loosened, then the EGR pipe and the screw-type clamp must always be replaced
    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 3.
  18. Seal
    • Replace after removing
  19. Screw-Type Clamp
    • 5 Nm
    • Replace after removing
  20. Bolt
    • 9 Nm
  21. O-Ring
    • Replace after removing
  22. Coolant Connection
  23. Bolt
  24. Screw-Type Clamp
    • Always replace
    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
  25. Seal
    • Replace after removing

NOTE:

Replace the seals.

-- Attach the EGR pipe with the seals and the screw-type clamps.

NOTE:

Coat the screw thread with hot bolt past. Refer to the Parts Information.

Step Bolts/Screw-Type Clamps Tightening Specification
1. -1 and 2- Turn them by hand until the bolt heads are touching
2. -3- Position them as shown in the illustration 2.5 Nm
3. -1 and 2- 9 Nm

-- Attach the EGR pipe with the seals and the screw-type clamps.

NOTE:

Coat the screw thread with hot bolt past. Refer to the Parts Information.

Step Bolts/Screw-Type Clamps Tightening Specification
1. -2 and 3- Turn them by hand until the bolt heads are touching
2. -1- Position using the tab on the EGR pipe 6 Nm
3. -2 and 3- 5 Nm
3. -2 and 3- Tighten an additional 90°
