Turbocharger, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Observe the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS [For transmission(s) 0D9] .

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor -G39-. Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolt -2- and the screw-type clamp.

-- Remove the nuts -1 and 3- and move the catalytic converter to the side.

NOTE:

The installation position is shown in the illustration with the engine removed for clarity.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -2-.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and push the left air duct pipe slightly to the left.

-- If equipped, remove the nut -2- and free up the ground wire -1-.

-- Release the connectors and simultaneously disconnect them from the ignition coils in the direction of -arrow-.

-- If applicable, remove the bolt -1- for the ground cable. Remove the coolant hose -2-.

-- Disconnect the connector -arrows-.

-- Release the catch in direction of -arrow- and remove the wiring duct -4- upward from the bracket.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 2 and 3-. Pivot the coolant pipe to the side.

-- Remove the Cam Adjustment Actuator 5 -F370- and Cam Adjustment Actuator 7 -F372- to do so remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Reduce the vacuum in the brake booster by pressing the brake pedal repeatedly.

-- Remove the vacuum hose from the brake booster.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and nut -1-.

-- Remove the heat shield -2-.

-- Remove the bolt -1-. Only loosen the bolt -3-.

-- Remove the turbocharger bracket -2-.

-- Disconnect the connectors -1-.

-- Press the release button on the crankcase ventilation hose -2- and remove the hose.

NOTE:

Due to technical reasons, the crankcase ventilation hose cannot be opened without it being destroyed for some market-specific versions. The crankcase ventilation hose must be replaced after opening.

-- Remove the bolts -1- and then remove the connections.

-- Remove the bolts -2 and 3- and remove the oil supply line and oil return line.

-- Open the hose clamp -arrow-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows-.

-- Remove the turbocharger from the cylinder head and remove it upward.
