Front Seat, Removing And Installing, Manual/Power: Installing

WARNING:
  • Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
  • Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting a connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.

Install In Reverse Order Of Removal And Note The Following: 

NOTE:

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way and engage audibly.

-- Lift the front seat into the vehicle with the help of a second technician and align it.

-- Tighten front bolts -2- on the seat rail.

-- Remove the :VAS6282  and connect the connector to the connector station in the floor. Refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING .

WARNING:

Repairing pyrotechnic components (for example the airbag and seat belt tensioner) incorrectly increases the risk of unintentional deployments when the battery is connected.

  • The ignition must be on when connecting the battery.
  • Make sure that no one is inside the vehicle at the time when the battery is connected.

-- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

WARNING:

Repairing pyrotechnic components (for example the airbag and seat belt tensioner) incorrectly increases the risk of injuries due to unintentional deployments when the ignition is switched on.

  • If the ignition is not switched on after the battery is reconnected - >>Indicator Lamps In The Instrument Cluster Do Not Light Up<< - the ignition (key/button) may only be switched on when the driver seat is positioned all the way back.

-- Move the front seat all the way forward and up.

-- Install the rear bolts -1- on the seat rail and tighten then.

NOTE:

If the Airbag Indicator Lamp -K75- indicates a fault, check the DTC memory, erase it and check it again using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
