Pedestrian Protection Trigger 1 -G598-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING

WARNING:

Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components, refer to Safety Precautions .

  1. Pedestrian Protection Trigger 1 -G598-
    • Removing

      -- Turn on the ignition.

      -- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on, refer to Battery Safety Label .

      WARNING:

      Before working with pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

      -- Disconnect the connector -6- and unclip the hood hinge.

      -- Remove the cap -3- and the nut -2-.

      -- Remove the bolts -4- and Pedestrian Protection Trigger 1 -G598-.

    • Installing.
      WARNING:

      Before working with pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

      -- Push the Pedestrian Protection Trigger 1 -G598- onto the pins on the hood hinge and then tighten the nuts.

      -- Tighten bolts to tightening specification.

      -- Tighten the nuts to the tightening specification.

      WARNING:

      Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

      -- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on, refer to Battery Safety Label .

      NOTE:

      If the Airbag Indicator Lamp -K75- indicates a fault, check the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, erase it and check it again, refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
