Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Replacing: Installing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Audi A3 and 2015 Audi A3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Use new bolts and new locking rings from the repair kit.

Version 1

-- Engage the control rod in the adjustment lever, install the vacuum diaphragm and install the bolts -1- all the way by hand.

-- Install circlip -4-.

-- Connect the connector -3- on the Charge Pressure Actuator Position Sensor -G581-.

VERSION 2

-- Engage the control rod in the adjustment lever, install the vacuum diaphragm and install the bolts -3- all the way by hand.

-- Install circlip -4-.

-- Connect the connector -2- on the Charge Pressure Actuator Position Sensor -G581-.

For All Versions

Checking the Vacuum Diaphragm Adjustment 

-- Use a Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- In the OBD  select under measured values Turbine Actuator 1 Bank 1, Raw Tension Location Response  .

-- Set the slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213  in position -A- for "vacuum".

-- Connect the :VAS6213  to the vacuum diaphragm -arrow-.

CAUTION:

- The vacuum should never be greater than 800 mbar (-11.6 psi).

VERSION 1 

-- Run the : VAS6213  until the pressure gauge shows a vacuum between --650 mbar to -700 mbar (-9.42 psi to -10.15 psi).

-- Push the vacuum diaphragm -arrow- until the measured values  are reached in the display field.

-- Tighten the bolts -1- to 10 Nm.

-- Slide the slider ring -1- on the :VAS6213  in the position -B- to vent the vacuum diaphragm until it reaches ambient temperature.

VERSION 2 

-- Run the : VAS6213  until the pressure gauge shows a vacuum between -650 mbar to -700 mbar (-9.42 psi to -10.15 psi).

-- Push the vacuum diaphragm -arrow- until the measured values  are reached in the display field.

-- Tighten the bolts -1- to 10 Nm.

-- Adjust slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213  to the -B- position, to bleed the vacuum diaphragm of ambient pressure.

Performing the Adaptation

-- Change in Guided Functions  and select the 01 - Electric Adaptation Actuator with Feedback  in the list.

-- Perform the adaptation

Check the Voltage Value Again after the Adaptation

-- Switch to OBD  and select under measured values Turbine Actuator 1 Bank 1, Raw Tension Location Reponse  .

-- Set the slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213  in position -A- for "vacuum".

-- Run the : VAS6213  until the pressure gauge shows a vacuum between -650 mbar to -700 mbar (-9.42 psi to -10.15 psi).

-- In the display field measured values  a voltage value of 0.75 ± 0.02 Volt must be displayed.

Voltage Value Not OK.

The illustration shows version 1.

-- Loosen the bolts -1-.

-- Adjust the voltage value again. Refer to INSTALLING .

Voltage Value OK.

-- Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm and seal with sealing wax.

-- Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Delete the DTC memory using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
