Input Shaft, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Drain the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF), refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF), DRAINING FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH , pivot transmission in installation position (level).

NOTE:

Transmission must not be turned so that flange points downward.

-- Mark the installed position of the cover for the input shaft with color -arrows-.

-- Remove the circlip -1-.

NOTE:

There are two different versions of circlips.

The current circlips do not have a groove and can only be removed using a screwdriver.

-- Mount the Puller - Input Shaft T40050 on the input shaft.

-- Make sure the puller is secure on the input shaft.

-- Pull the input shaft together with the cover and forward gear clutch out of the transmission housing -arrow- using Shop Crane VAS6100 with Puller - Input Shaft T40050.

NOTE:

It is very difficult to loosen the input shaft cover from the transmission housing. Pre-tension the input shaft with Shop Crane VAS6100 and then carefully hit transmission housing flange with a plastic hammer with a piece of wood placed in between until the cover comes loose.

CAUTION:

If the oil pipe is damaged, starting problems or a transmission malfunction will result.

  • The input shaft may not be placed on the protruding oil pipe -arrow-.

-- Place the input shaft on the Pressure Stand T40099.
