Front Belt TENSIONER, Removing And Installing, USA And CANADA Market-Specific: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING .
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.
-- Remove the front belt end fitting. Refer to FRONT BELT END FITTING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, USA AND CANADA MARKET-SPECIFIC .
-- Disconnect the connector for the front belt tensioner.
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Pull the locking mechanism -1- in the direction of the -arrow- and disconnect the electrical connectors -2- and -3-.
-- Unclip the wiring harness from the sill panel and pull slightly to the side.
-- Remove the nut -1- and disengage the belt tensioner at the threaded connection.
-- Remove the belt tensioner -3- toward the rear -arrow- out of the retainer -2-.
