Oil Pan Upper Section, Removing And Installing: Removing

Transmission removed. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING (S-tronic) or TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING (Automatic Transmission 09M).

Depending on the model, preliminary work may be required. Refer to Oil Pan Lower Section, Removing and Installing and Oil Pan/Oil Pump .

-- Remove the transmission side sealing flange. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TRANSMISSION SIDE .

-- Remove the oil pump. Refer to OIL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Open the clamps -1 and 2- and remove the air duct hoses.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the air duct pipe.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428- depending on the version not installed on all engines.

-- Remove the bolt -1-.

-- Remove the cable holder next to the After-Run Coolant Pump -V51-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

CAUTION:

- When removing the oil pan upper section, do not reach near the lower timing chain cover.

-- Loosen and remove the bolts in the following sequence: -14 to 1-.

There may be 13 bolts installed, depending on the version.
First pry the oil pan upper section out on the transmission side. Proceed carefully when prying out.

-- Loosen the oil pan upper section from the adhesive.
