Gear Oil, Checking Level

NOTE:

The bevel box is attached to the side of the transmission and has its own oil system.

Axle oil specification, refer to the parts information.

Procedure

NOTE:

Replace the oil filler hole drain plug.

Move the vehicle onto a four-column shop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.
The engine is off.

-- Remove the noise insulation -1-, refer to Noise Insulation, Removing And Installing .

-- Remove the nuts -1- and the right drive axle heat shield.

NOTE:

To catch escaping gear oil place a cloth underneath.

-- Remove the bolt -1- from the oil filler hole.

-- Add axle oil if necessary, refer to GEAR OIL, DRAINING AND FILLING .

NOTE:

Carefully remove leaking oil on bevel box.

Ignore item -2-.

Tightening Specifications

Fluid filler plug, refer to Figure.
Driveshaft heat shield, refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
