Vibration Damper Seal, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Seal Installer - Crankshaft :T10354
Press Piece - Gearbox :T10375
Vibration Damper Assembly Tool - Knurled Nut :T10531/4 from the Vibration Damper Assembly Tool:T10531
Seal Installer - Crankshaft :T40274

Procedure

Preliminary work may be required depending on the model. Refer to TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING

-- Remove the vibration damper. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

The :T10531/2 is installed.

-- Remove the seal -arrow- with the :T40274 .

-- Clean the contact and sealing surface.

-- Push the seal -arrow- on the :T10354 .

The closed side of the seal points to the :T10354 .

-- Push the seal -arrow- with the :T10354 on the :T10531/2 and place on the lower timing chain cover.

-- Additionally attach the :T10375 and tighten the :T10531/4 .

-- Drive the seal in all the way using the :T10354 .

Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, while noting the following:

Replace the bolt with O-ring for the vibration damper after removal.

-- Install the vibration damper. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
