Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking: Procedure
-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Engine with oil separator on the cylinder head cover, version 2: remove the oil separator. Refer to OIL SEPARATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, ON CYLINDER HEAD COVER, VERSION 2 .
-- Connect the :VAS6213 to the vacuum diaphragm -arrow-.
-- Set the slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213 in position -B- for "pressure".
- Never set the test pressure specified.
- The pressure must not exceed 750 mbar (10.88 psi).
-- Operate the :VAS6213 several times; watch the linkage while doing this.
The linkage -A- must move approximately 300 mbar (4.35 psi) and be at approximately 700 mbar (10.15 psi) at the end position.
The linkage stroke is approximately 10 mm.
TIP:
If pressure cannot be raised using the :VAS6213 or pressure drops immediately, check the :VAS6213 and connecting hoses for leaks.
If no error can be found:
-- Turbocharger with vacuum diaphragm that can be replaced separately. Refer to parts information : replace the vacuum diaphragm. Refer to TURBOCHARGER VACUUM DIAPHRAGM, REPLACING .
-- Turbocharger and vacuum diaphragm in unit: replace the turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Engine with oil separator on the cylinder head cover, version 2: install the oil separator. Refer to OIL SEPARATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, ON CYLINDER HEAD COVER, VERSION 2 .
-- Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
