Luggage Compartment Door Opener does not Operate [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / (desired system) / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
      BACK DOOR (W/ POWER TRUNK LID SYSTEM)

      MAIN BODY (W/O POWER TRUNK LID SYSTEM)

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      MAIN BODY

      When this item is abnormal, there is a problem with the luggage compartment door lock cylinder switch assembly or related parts.
      Trunk/BDoor Open SW Luggage door opening switch assembly signal / ON or OFF ON: Luggage door opening switch assembly is on
      OFF: Luggage door opening switch assembly is off
      -
      Trunk Main SW Luggage door opening cancel switch assembly signal / ON or OFF ON: Luggage door opening cancel switch assembly is on
      OFF: Luggage door opening cancel switch assembly is off
      -
      Luggage courtesy SW Luggage door closer assembly courtesy switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Luggage door closer assembly courtesy switch on
      OFF: Luggage door closer assembly courtesy switch off
      For vehicles with power trunk lid system, this item is not related to luggage compartment door condition.

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      SMART ACCESS

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Tr/B-Door Unlock SW Luggage electrical key switch / ON or OFF ON: Luggage electrical key switch pushed
      OFF: Luggage electrical key switch not pushed
      When this item is abnormal, there is a problem with the luggage electrical key switch of the luggage door closer assembly or related parts.

      OK

      On the screen, each item changes between ON and OFF as shown in above chart.

    NG → See step   18 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 
    1. Temporarily replace the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) with a new one. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .
    2. Check that the luggage door opener system is normal.

      OK

      Luggage door opener system is normal.

    NG → See step   18 

    OK → END (MAIN BODY ECU [MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU] WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  5. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the luggage door opening switch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .
    2. Inspect the luggage door opening switch assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [08/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   15 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the H9 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the H69 luggage door opening switch assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H9-5 (TSW) - H69-6 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      H69-3 (L) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      H9-5 (TSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   19 

  7. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING CANCEL SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the luggage door opening cancel switch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .
    2. Inspect the luggage door opening cancel switch assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [08/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING CANCEL SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the H9 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the H74 luggage door opening cancel switch assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H9-11 (TMSW) - H74-2 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      H74-1 (L) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      H9-11 (TMSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   19 

  9. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the luggage compartment door lock cylinder assembly. Refer to DISASSEMBLY [08/2013 - ] .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Not turned 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 2 Turned Below 1 Ω

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the H10 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the U4 luggage compartment door lock cylinder assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H10-23 (TKUL) - U4-2 (UL) Always Below 1 Ω
      U4-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      H10-23 (TKUL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   19 

  11. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the luggage compartment door lock assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .

    2. Check the operation of the door lock motor.
      1. Move the door lock to the close (lock) position.
      2. Apply auxiliary battery voltage to the door lock motor and check operation of the door lock motor.

        OK

        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        Auxiliary battery positive (+) → Terminal 1 (B)
        Auxiliary battery negative (-) → Terminal 2 (E)
        Luggage compartment door lock motor open (unlock) operation
    3. Check the operation of the door courtesy switch.
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        3 (D+) - 2 (E) Fully latched 10 kΩ or higher
        3 (D+) - 2 (E) Fully open Below 1 Ω

        *c Open (Unlock)

    NG → See step   14 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK - MAIN BODY ECU AND INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the U3 luggage compartment door lock assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the H10 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    3. Disconnect the 3C instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U3-3 (D+) - H10-19 (LGCY) Always Below 1 Ω
      U3-1(B) - 3C-10 Always Below 1 Ω
      3C-10 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      U3-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      U3-3 (D+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      U3-1 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily replace the instrument panel junction block assembly with a new or known good one.
    2. Check that the luggage door opener system is normal.

      OK

      Luggage door opener system is normal.

    NG → See step   19 

    OK → END (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  14. REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  15. REPLACE LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  16. REPLACE LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING CANCEL SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  17. GO TO LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER SYSTEM. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2013 - ] 
  18. GO TO SMART ACCESS SYSTEM WITH PUSH-BUTTON START (for Entry Function). Refer to  Luggage Compartment Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate when Key is Outside Luggage Compartment [08/2013 - ] 
  19. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  20. REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [08/2013 - ] 
  21. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM. Refer to  Luggage Compartment Door Courtesy Switch Circuit [08/2013 - ]
