DTC 42: Electronically Controlled Brake System Malfunction; DTC 45: Electronically Controlled Brake System Malfunction [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .
    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    3. Drive the vehicle at a speed of approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for 60 seconds or more.
    4. Check if electronically controlled brake system DTCs are output. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Electronically controlled brake system DTC is not output. A
      Electronically controlled brake system DTC is output. B

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .
    3. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    4. Drive the vehicle at a speed of approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for 60 seconds or more.
    5. Check if the same DTC is output. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs 42 and 45 are not output. A
      DTCs 42 and/or 45 are output. B

  3. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2013 - ] 
  4. REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2013 - ] 
  5. REPLACE BRAKE BOOSTER WITH MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]
