DTC P2119: Throttle Actuator Control Throttle Body Range / Performance [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2119) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P2119 is output A
      DTC P2119 and other DTCs are output B

      HINT: 

      If any DTCs other than P2119 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    B → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (THROTTLE POSITION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .
    5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    7. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode). Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE [08/2013 - ] .
    8. Start the engine.
    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Gas Throttle / Throttle Position No. 1 and Throttle Position Command.
    10. Read the values displayed on the Techstream while fully depressing and releasing the accelerator pedal quickly.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Throttle Position No. 1 does not change A
      Throttle Position No. 1 changes even a little B

      HINT: 

      When a DTC is output, the system changes to fail-safe mode. Therefore, only use the data up until the time the DTC is stored for confirmation.

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY (RESISTANCE OF THROTTLE ACTUATOR) 
    1. Inspect the throttle with motor body assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [08/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY (VISUALLY CHECK THROTTLE VALVE) 
    1. Check for contamination between the throttle valve and housing. If necessary, clean the throttle with motor body assembly. Also, check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.

      OK

      Throttle valve is not contaminated with foreign objects and moves smoothly.

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after cleaning the throttle with motor body assembly. Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (THROTTLE POSITION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .
    5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Gas Throttle / Throttle Position No. 1, Throttle Position No. 2 and Throttle Position Command.
    8. Read the values displayed on the Techstream while wiggling the ECM wire harness.
    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    10. Read the DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Value in Data List changes when wire harness is wiggled, or DTC is output A
      Other than above B

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  6. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECM - THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY) 
    1. As the DTC was stored due to a change in the contact resistance of the connector, repair or replace the wire harness or connector. Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [08/2013 - ] .

    NEXT → END 

  7. REPLACE THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the throttle with motor body assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the throttle with motor body assembly. Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2013 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2119) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .
    5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    7. Turn the Techstream on.
    8. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    10. Read the DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC P2119 is output B

    B → See step   10 

    A → END 

  9. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2013 - ] 
  10. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]
