Removal [08/2013 - ]

NOTE:
  • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
  • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
  • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable sub-assembly.
    2. w/ Steering Heater:
      1. Disconnect the connector.

    3. Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    4. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.
    5. Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.
      • SST: 09950-50013 
        • 09951-05010
        • 09952-05010
        • 09953-05020
        • 09954-05070

      *a Turn
      *b Hold
      NOTE:

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY  See step  2
  5. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH  . Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 2
  6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Remove the cruise control switch wire.
  7. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and steering shake damper from the steering wheel sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER 
    1. w/ Steering Heater:
      1. Disconnect the connector.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape and separate the steering heater harness from the lower steering wheel boss cover.

    2. Disengage the 4 claws to remove the lower steering wheel boss cover from the steering wheel sub-assembly.

  9. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Heater)  See step  2
