CAUTION:
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
- On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar ® , switch-off the emergency (back-up) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module prior to disconnecting vehicle battery. Refer to .
- After reconnecting vehicle battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio. Also check operation of clock and power windows according to article and/or Owner's Manual.
- After reconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar ® , switch-on the emergency (back-up) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module. Refer to .

NOTE:
- Disconnect battery Ground strap with the ignition switched off.
- Lubricate all bearings and contact surfaces with polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A 2.
- Before working on pedal cluster, remove cover below dash panel:

- Ensure that no brake fluid escapes into the footwell, plenum chamber or onto the transmission below. If this does happen, clean the affected areas thoroughly.
- When performing work in the footwell, put cloths on the carpet to protect it from possible brake fluid spills.
