Luggage Compartment Door Opener does not Operate [10/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (TRUNK AND BACK-DOOR OPEN) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Trunk and Back-Door Open Operate luggage compartment door lock assembly latch release OFF or ON -

      OK

      Luggage compartment door lock assembly latch release motor is ON/OFF.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TRUNK/BDOOR OPEN SW, TRUNK MAIN SW, LUGGAGE COURTESY SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      OFF: Luggage door closer assembly courtesy switch off

      On the Techstream screen, the display changes between ON and OFF as shown in above chart.

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TR/B-DOOR UNLOCK SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      SMART KEY

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Tr/B-Door Unlock SW Luggage electrical key switch / ON or OFF ON: Luggage electrical key switch pushed
      OFF: Luggage electrical key switch not pushed
      When this item is abnormal, there is a problem with the luggage electrical key switch of the luggage door closer assembly or related parts.

      OK

      On the Techstream screen, the display changes between ON and OFF as shown in above chart.

    NG → See step   15 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 
    1. Temporarily replace the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) with a new or known good one. Refer to REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] .
    2. Check that the luggage door opener system is normal.

      OK

      Luggage door opener system is normal.

    NG → See step   15 

    OK → END (MAIN BODY ECU [MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU] WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  5. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the luggage door opening switch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] .
    2. Inspect the luggage door opening switch assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [10/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   13 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D5 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the D41 luggage door opening switch assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D5-5 (TSW) - D41-4 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      D41-1 (L) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D5-5 (TSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D41-4 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   16 

  7. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING CANCEL SWITCH (LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the luggage door opening cancel switch (luggage door opening switch assembly). Refer to REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] .
    2. Inspect the luggage door opening cancel switch (luggage door opening switch assembly). Refer to INSPECTION [10/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   14 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING CANCEL SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D6 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the D56 luggage door opening cancel switch (luggage door opening switch assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D6-12 (TMSW) - D56-2 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      D56-1 (L) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D6-12 (TMSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D56-2 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   16 

  9. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the luggage compartment door lock assembly. Refer to DISASSEMBLY [10/2013 - ] .
    2. Inspect the luggage compartment door lock assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [10/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the O3 luggage compartment door lock assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the 3C instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O3-3 (D+) - 3C-9 Always Below 1 Ω
      O3-1 (B) - 3C-10 Always Below 1 Ω
      O3-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      O3-3 (D+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O3-1 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3C-9 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3C-10 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily replace the instrument panel junction block assembly with a new or known good one.
    2. Check that the luggage door opener system is normal. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2013 - ] .

      OK

      Luggage door opener system is normal.

    NG → See step   16 

    OK → END (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  12. REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [10/2013 - ] 
  13. REPLACE LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] 
  14. REPLACE LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING CANCEL SWITCH (LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] 
  15. GO TO SMART KEY SYSTEM (for Entry Function). Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2013 - ] 
  16. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] 
  17. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2013 - ]
