Camshaft, Measuring Radial Play

Procedure 

-- Removing cam follower. Refer to CAMSHAFTS .

-- Clean the bearing and the bearing journals.

-- Place Plastigage over entire width of bearing journal or into bearing.

• Plastigage must rest in center of bearing.

-- Position the guide frame and tighten to 8 Nm. Refer to Figure without rotating camshaft.

-- Install the guide frame.

-- Compare width of Plastigage with calibrated scale.

Radial clearance:

Bearing diameter 24 mm: 0.024 to 0.066 mm.

Bearing diameter 32 mm: 0.030 to 0.051 mm.
