Compression Pressure, Checking
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Spark Plug Removal Tool 3122 B
- Puller - Ignition Coil T40039
- Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm V.A.G 1331
- Compression Tester V.A.G 1763
- Compression Tester Kit - Adapter 5A V.A.G 1381/5A
Test conditions:
- Engine oil temperature must be at least 30°C (86°F).
- Voltage supply OK.
-- Follow repair instructions. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION .
-- Remove the air filter (engine cover). Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING .
-- Pull connectors off all fuel injectors.
-- Remove the ignition coils with power output stage. Refer to IGNITION COILS WITH POWER OUTPUT STAGES .
-- Remove spark plugs using Spark Plug Removal Tool 3122 B.
-- Check compression using Compression Tester Kit V.A.G 1763 and Adapter V.A.G 1381/5A.
-- Have a second technician operate the starter.
-- Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase.
Compression Pressure:
