Function 

The luggage compartment lamp -W3- comes on when the rear lid is opened. The comfort system central control module -J393- controls the luggage compartment lamp -W3-.

The trunk lid alarm switch -F123- determines the condition of the rear lid, which is then read by the comfort system central control module -J393-.

In addition to this, the vehicle speed is needed, which is determined by the ABS control module -J104- from the RPM sensor signals and is then sent to the comfort system central control module -J393- via the CAN Bus.

The signals from all four RPM sensors, or just the front RPM sensors, are used on quattro vehicles.

The luggage compartment lamp -W3- goes out depending on the ignition under the following conditions:

Switch-off requirements when the ignition is off:

Requirement	Note
The rear lid is closed.
The maximum 10 minute switch-on time is exceeded.	The luggage compartment lamp -W3- comes on when: A door was opened or The ignition is switched on, or the rear lid is closed and then opened again

Switch-off requirements when the ignition is on:

Requirement	Note
The rear lid is closed.
The vehicle speed exceeds 2 km/h.	The luggage compartment lamp -W3- comes on again when the vehicle speed goes below 1 km/h. A door was opened or the rear lid is closed and then opened again

Service Information 

If communication with the ABS control module -J104- is not possible or the speed signal received is not correct, the function of the speed-dependant control luggage compartment illumination will not work.

The luggage compartment illumination will not be activated if the switch-off stage in the energy management system is at level 2, 3 or 4.

The luggage compartment lamp -W3- can be controlled by an actuator test in the comfort system central control module -J393- (address 46 - comfort system central control module).
