Electrical Auxiliary Heater Activation, Checking
Installed on vehicles with TDI engines and on vehicles with a high-voltage system (Audi A6 Hybrid with gasoline engine).
An electrical auxiliary heater is installed as an auxiliary heater on vehicles with a TDI engine without a "parking heater" and on vehicles with a high-voltage system (Audi A6 Hybrid with gasoline engine).
Currently there is no Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- installed for vehicles with TDI engines with the optional "parking heater". In this case, the parking heater assumes the function of the auxiliary heater.
For vehicles with a gasoline engine (except Audi A6 Hybrid), an auxiliary heater is currently not installed (a "parking heater" installed as optional equipment is also not activated as an auxiliary heater).
An Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is also currently installed on vehicles with a high-voltage system (Audi A6 Hybrid) and a gasoline engine. Refer to ELECTRICAL AUXILIARY HEATER ACTIVATION, CHECKING .
On the Audi A6 e-tron, a High-Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115- is currently installed. Refer to appropriate service information. .
For vehicles with a gasoline engine, the electric auxiliary heater (the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-) is activated by the Climatronic Control Module -J255- control head via the local data bus (activated via the same outlet and also via the Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126-) on the Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604-. If there is a complaint with these vehicles, check the Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126- or Fresh Air Blower -V2- and the Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604-. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function and the Appropriate Wiring Diagram.
Make sure to use the correct version of the Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126-. For vehicles with a high voltage system (hybrid vehicles) and gasoline engines, additional information is sent to activate the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604-, for example via the local Data Bus. Refer to the Parts information.
With a Start/Stop System, the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- activation is switched off for the time in which the stop function is active (to protect the battery).
After the engine is started with the start function, the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is activated again by the engine control module. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
- The air is supplied with heat energy after leaving the heater core if there is a request from the Climatronic Control Module -J255- control head.
- The activation for the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is performed by the Low Heat Output Relay -J359- and the High Heat Output Relay -J360- via the respective engine control module or the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- (for vehicles with a gasoline engine), if there is a request from the Climatronic Control Module -J255-. The information is then exchanged between the Climatronic Control Module -J255- control head and the Engine Control Module (ECM)/the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- via the Data Bus. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function and the Appropriate Wiring Diagram.
- Functional testing of the electric auxiliary air heater activation. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" Function for the A/C system on the Climatronic Control Module -J255-.
- It appears in the "read measured value" function on the A/C system on the Climatronic Control Module -J255- that a request to turn on the auxiliary heater (electric auxiliary heater on the engine control module/the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- or the parking heater acting as an auxiliary heater) was sent. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
