Crankshaft Seal, Replacing, Transmission Side
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Seal Installer - Crankshaft:T10122A
- Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Assembly Tool :T10122/1
- Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Thrust Sleeve :T10122/5
- Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Guide Piece :T10122/6
- Puller - Crankshaft/Power Steering Seal :T20143/2
This procedure contains mandatory replaceable parts. Refer to component overview and parts information prior to starting procedure.
Mandatory Replacement Parts
- Bolt - Drive Plate to Crankshaft
- Transmission removed. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For transmission(s) 0BK] .
-- Remove the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Pry out the shaft seal using :T20143/2 .
-- Clean the running and sealing surface.
-- Insert the :T10122/1 on the :T10122/6 and push the shaft seal -A- on the guide piece.
-- Remove the :T10122/1 .
-- Position the :T10122/6 on the crankshaft.
-- Attach the Guide Piece through the mounting points -A- with the bolts -arrows- on the crankshaft.
There is a rick of leaks due to incorrect assembly.
- To prevent the shaft seal sealing lip from rolling onto itself, insert the shaft seal by hand on the crankshaft.
-- Push the shaft seal by hand using the :T10122/6 on the crankshaft.
-- Press shaft seal in evenly all around with :T10122/5 until flush.
-- Remove the :T10122/6 .
-- Check the shaft seal as well as the sealing lip for correct seating. If the sealing lip are partially turned repeat the procedure with a new shaft seal.
-- Install the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
