Crankshaft Seal, Replacing, Belt Pulley Side: Procedure
-- Remove vibration damper:
- Vehicles without torque support. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITHOUT TORQUE SUPPORT .
- Vehicles with torque support. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH TORQUE SUPPORT .
-- Position the inner part of the :T40019 flush with outer part and secure it with the knurled screw.
-- Lubricate the seal remover threaded head, position it, and then install it into the shaft seal as far as possible using strong force.
-- Loosen the knurled screw and turn the inner portion against the crankshaft until the seal is pulled out.
-- Secure the seal remover in a vise at the flat spots and remove the seal using pliers.
-- Clean the running and sealing surface.
-- Place the :T40048/1 on the :T40048/2 and slide the shaft seal -1- onto the pull sleeve.
-- Remove the :T40048/1 .
-- Mount the :T40048/2 to the crankshaft and push the seal -1- into the pulley side sealing flange.
Leave the :T40048/2 for pressing onto the crankshaft.
-- Position the :T40048/7 on the crankshaft with M8 x 55 mm bolts -arrows-.
-- Install bolts by hand.
-- Tighten the bolts 1 /2 turn each, alternating from side to side in order to press the shaft seal all the way in.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- Install the vibration damper:
- Vehicles without torque support. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITHOUT TORQUE SUPPORT .
- Vehicles with torque support. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH TORQUE SUPPORT .
