Ribbed Belt Drive Assembly Overview

Ribbed Belt
- Check for wear
- Before removing, mark the direction of rotation using chalk or a felt-tip pen.
- Removing and installing, refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Do not kink
- When installing, make sure it is seated correctly on the ribbed belt pulleys
Vibration Damper
- With ribbed belt pulley
- Removing and installing, refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Washer
Bolt
- 20 Nm + an additional 90° turn
- Replace
Idler Roller
- For the ribbed belt
Bolt (See Fig 1)
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
Cover
- For the idler roller
Cover
- For the idler roller
Bolt
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm
Idler Roller
- For the ribbed belt
Bolt
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm .
Generator
- Removing and installing, refer to GENERATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH 3.0L TDI ENGINE .
Bracket
- For generator
Bolt
- Tighten in 2 steps:
  - 5 Nm diagonally
  - 40 Nm diagonally
Bolt
- Tightening specification: 23 Nm .
Ribbed Belt Pulley
- For the coolant pump
Coolant Pump
- Different versions, allocate correct components.
- Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Bolt
- 50 Nm + an additional 90° turn
- Replace
Tensioner
- For the ribbed belt
- Different versions with or without tensioner washer Fig 2
- Removing and installing, refer to RIBBED BELT TENSIONER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Seal
- Replace
Bracket
- For A/C compressor
- Removing and installing, refer to AUXILIARY COMPONENTS BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Bolt
- Tighten in 2 steps:
  - 5 Nm diagonally
  - 40 Nm diagonally
Alignment Sleeve
- Quantity: 2
Bolt
- Tightening specifications, refer to A/C Compressor - INSTALLING .
Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor
- Removing and installing, refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
