Driveshaft Bolted On Transmission Side: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:

-- Install the driveshaft while paying attention to the rear final drive:

-- Install the new bolts all the way in by hand but do not tighten them.

-- Install the bolts -arrows- just far enough so that the so the center bearing can still be moved.

-- Tighten the bolts -1- on the rear driveshaft. Follow the tightening sequence, refer to Figure.

-- Tighten the bolts on the front driveshaft. Tightening specification, refer to item  5.

-- Remove the 3139.

-- Tighten the driveshaft center bearing on the body without tension. Tightening specification, refer to item  8.

-- Tighten the heat shield -A- to the transmission -arrows-. Tightening specification, refer to Figure.

-- Install the heat shield -1-.

-- Install the front -2- and rear -3- crossmembers. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY PANELS .

-- Reconnect exhaust system making sure it is not under stress. Refer to the appropriate service information .
