Front Three-Point Seat Belt, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING .
-- Turn on the ignition.
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the front belt end fitting. Refer to FRONT BELT END FITTING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the upper B-pillar trim panel. Refer to B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, UPPER B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
-- Thread the belt webbing out of the upper B-pillar trim.
-- Remove the lower B-pillar trim panel. Refer to B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, LOWER B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
Before handling belt tensioner units (for example, disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Releases the connector retainers -2- using a small screwdriver then disconnect the belt force limiter connector -item 1- and belt tensioner igniter 1 -item 3-.
-- Disconnect and free up the wire on the belt tensioner.
-- Remove the front belt guide -3-. Refer to FRONT SEAT BELT GUIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the belt relay bolt -2-.
-- Remove screw -4- and belt tensioner -1- from the mount.
