Starter, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 2.0L TDI Engine (Pr-TD1): Removing

-- With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to OVERVIEW - BULKHEAD .

-- Remove the bolt -1- for the cable holder -2-.

-- Remove the Heater Support Pump -V488- and move it to the side with the coolant hoses connected. Refer to ELECTRIC COOLANT PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the right engine mount. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolt -1- for the rear coolant pipe.

-- Remove the ground cable bolt -2-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Free up the wiring harness on the cylinder block.

-- Remove the engine support forward.

-- Disconnect the connector -3- by sliding the retainer back and pressing the release down.

-- Disconnect the wire -2- from the starter.

-- Remove the bolts -4-.

-- Remove the bolt -1- on the transmission side using an extension.

-- Remove the starter.
