On Board Diagnostic (OBD), function

The telephone/telematics system has extensive On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capabilities.

Telephone/Telematics Control Module J526 has a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory. If a malfunction occurs in one of the components or wires which is monitored by the system, a record of the type of malfunction is stored in DTC memory.

Troubleshoot telephone/telematics system malfunctions and code or adapt system functions by performing OBD program using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051/5052 in operating mode "Guided Fault Finding".

VAS 5051/5052 connected and in mode "Guided Fault Finding" :

Enter appropriate model, equipment and model year information and press ">" to confirm.

After the DTC memory of all control modules has been checked:

Press "Go to" button
Select: "Function / Component Selection"
Select: "Body (01; 27; 50 - 97)"
Select: "Electrical Equipment (01; 90 - 97)"

Select: "01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems"
Select: "75 - Telematics USA"
Select: appropriate option
Follow tester prompts.
