Front brakes, servicing

NOTE:

Install repair kit complete.
After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
To draw off brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir use a bleeder bottle which is used only for brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and must on no account be siphoned out by mouth using a hose!

1 - Brake disc cover

2 - Collar bolt, 10 Nm

M6x12

3 - Brake hose

Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads

4 - Bracket

Bolt to brake caliper housing

5 - Hex bolt, 10 Nm-

6 - Spring clip

7 - Brake line

Tightening torque for brake line at bracket 15 Nm
Tightening torque for brake line at brake caliper: 15 Nm
Screw into brake caliper housing
Screw into brake hose, counter hold on brake hose hex.

Make sure that lugs are properly seated in grooves in bracket.

8 - Connector

9 - Ribbed bolt, 190 Nm

Clean ribs if using again

10 - Brake carrier

Bolt to wheel bearing housing

11 - Brake pads

NOTE:

The inner surface (with tension spring) is indicated by an arrow. The arrow must point in direction of brake disc rotation when moving forward. If installed incorrectly this may cause noise problems.
Clean guide surfaces and apply a thin coating of polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A2 before inserting pads.
There is an adhesive foil on the back plates of the outer brake pads. The protective foil must be pulled off before inserting.
Brake pad wear indicator (left front and right front)
Warning lamp in instrument cluster will light up when wear limit (2 to 3 mm) is reached.
Always replace both sides

NOTE:

Always clean the brake caliper (grease-free) before inserting new brake pads. When doing this, make sure that all adhesive foil residue on the contact surfaces for the outer brake pad is removed.

12 - Retaining spring

Before inserting pads, clean guide surfaces and apply a thin coating of polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A2 .
Insert in both holes in brake caliper housing

NOTE:

After inserting the retaining spring into the two holes, press it under the brake carrier. If incorrectly installed, it is not possible to adjust the wear of the outer pad, and the pedal travel will be increased as a result.

13 - Brake disc

Always replace both sides
Remove brake caliper prior to removing
Thickness → Brakes
Allocation → Brakes

14 - Torx bolt

Tightening torque: 5 Nm

15 - Wheel bolts

Mounting wheels → 44 - WHEELS, TIRES, VEHICLE ALIGNMENT

16 - Brake caliper housing

Remove from brake carrier to replace brake pads
Servicing brake caliper → Brake caliper, servicing

17 - Guide pins, 30 Nm

18 - Protective cap

Remove
