End cover, removing and installing: Notes

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required 

Removing 

NOTE:
CAUTION: Do not run engine with the end cover removed or without ATF filling and do not tow vehicle.

Installing 

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

NOTE:
  • Replace sealing rings, seals and bolts for end cover.

Vehicles with round connector:

NOTE:
  • There are metal and paper seals. The new seal must be made of the same material as the old one .
  • Make sure bushings are seated properly.

NOTE:
  • Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
  • Lightly grease eyelet and ball socket of selector lever cable with polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A2  before installing.

NOTE:
  • Take care not to bend selector shaft lever when pressing it on; support it if necessary, as otherwise selector mechanism can no longer be adjusted properly.
