Tightening Specifications

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2015 Audi S5, 2014 Audi S5, 2013 Audi S5, 2012 Audi S5, and 2011 Audi S5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

NOTE:

The tightening specifications apply only to lightly greased, oiled, phosphated or blackened nuts and bolts.

Additional lubricant such as engine oil or transmission fluid may be used, but do not use graphite lubricant.

Do not use any ungreased parts.

Tightening specification tolerance +/- 15%.

-- Tighten the heat shield bolts -arrows- to 23 Nm.

Alignment sleeve for centering

²⁾ Bolt strength rating 10.9. There is no limit to the number of times steel bolts may be used.
³⁾ The bolts may be used 2 times TRANSMISSION, INSTALLING .

⁽¹⁾	To prevent damaging the bolts when marking them, do not clamp them in a vise. Insert the bolt using a 14 mm socket with a /₂ drive, which is inserted in to the vise, as illustrated.

The aluminum bolts -2 through 10- can be used 2 times. Therefore, the bolts must be marked with two notches "X" made by a chisel after they have be used the first time -arrow-.
