Front Three-Point Seat Belt, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Follow the General Safety Precautions when working with airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units (pyrotechnic components). Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Follow the special information regarding belt tensioners BELT TENSIONER SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS .
-- Remove the belt end fitting on the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT BELT ANCHOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to Battery, Starter, Generator, Cruise ControlBattery, Starter, Generator, Cruise Control .
-- Remove the B-pillar trim. Refer to B-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the sill panel strip. Refer to SILL PANEL STRIP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt -1- (50 Nm ) and detach the belt relay -2- from the belt height adjuster.
-- Remove the bolts -1- (4.5 Nm ) and then remove the belt guide -2-.
Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of the belt tensioner. Therefore, the technician must discharge static electricity from the body before disconnecting the ignition wire and ground wire. This is done, for example, by briefly grasping the chassis or door striker.
-- Disconnect the wiring harness from the automatic belt retractor.
-- Fold the carpet in the area near bolt -1- toward the inside until the bolt -1- is accessible.
-- Remove the bolts -1- and -2-.
-- Remove the automatic belt retractor -3- from the B-pillar.
