Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Spark Plug Removal Tool:3122B
- Compression Tester Kit:VAG1763
PROCEDURE
- Engine Oil Temperature: Minimum 30 °C (86 °F)
- Battery Voltage Minimum 12.5 V.
-- Remove The Rear Noise Insulation -2-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect The Connector -2- From The Engine Speed Sensor -G28-.
Ignore Item -1-.
-- Remove The Ignition Coils. Refer To IGNITION COILS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove Spark Plugs With Spark Plug Removal Tool:3122B .
-- Check The Compression Using The Compression Tester Kit:VAG1763 .
For Information On Using The Tester. Refer To The Operating Instructions.
-- Have A Second Mechanic Press The Accelerator Pedal All The Way Down While Operating The Starter Until The Pressure Increase Is No Longer Displayed On The Tester.
-- Repeat Procedure On Each Cylinder.

Assemble In Reverse Order Of Disassembling. Note The Following:
-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install The Spark Plugs. Refer To The Appropriate Service Information.
-- Install The Ignition Coils. Refer To IGNITION COILS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- If The Connectors Were Disconnected And The Engine Was Started, Then Malfunctions Have Been Stored In The Engine Control Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory. Generate Readiness Code in Guided Functions Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
