Backrest Adjustment Motor And Switch Unit, Removing And Installing: Removing

Before handling airbag units (for example, disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

-- Remove The Front Seat:

Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat. Refer To FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER .
For the super sport seat. Refer To FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER .

-- Attach the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture:VAS6136 . Refer To FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .

-- Remove the tunnel side trim. Refer To TUNNEL-SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD SEAT, SPORT SEAT, SUPER SPORT SEAT and sill side trim. Refer To SILL SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL STANDARD/SPORT SEATS .

-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer To BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TWO PIECE .

-- Make a permanent mark (a line) on the left and right side -arrow A- on the backrest frame -2- on the front edge -arrow B- of the anchor -1-.

CAUTION:

Do not damage the surface of the anchor when marking it by scratching or denting it.
Do not remove the cover -4- under any circumstances.

-- Remove the nut -5- from the shaft -3-.

-- Remove the cover from the backrest. Refer To BACKREST COVER AND CUSHION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD/SPORT SEAT .

NOTE:

The switch unit must be removed to remove the backrest adjustment motor -7- but it does not need to be replaced.

-- Remove the switch unit. Refer To Fig 3.

-- Remove the shaft -3- from the backrest frame -1- in the direction of the -arrow-.

-- Disconnect the connector -6- from the backrest adjustment motor -7-.

-- Remove the bolt -2-.

-- Remove the bracket adjustment motor -7- from the bracket -5-.

-- Remove the shaft -5- in the direction of the -arrow- from the switch unit -2-.

-- Disconnect the multi-pin connector -5-.

-- Remove the screws -2-.

-- Remove the switch unit -4- from the backrest frame -1-.

-- Unclip the locking bushing -2- at the spindle -1-.
