Brake Pedal, Removing From Brake Booster
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Release Tool for Brake Light Switch:T40168A for brake lamp sensor
- Brake Servo Release Tool:T10006A
Disconnect the brake pedal from the brake booster.
If possible, leave the brake pedal stop installed; it could break the mount for the brake lamp sensor if the brake pedal is released too quickly.
-- Remove the driver side storage compartment -1 to 3-.
-- Disconnect the connector -C- on the footwell vent.
-- Remove the footwell vents -A-B-.
-- Remove the brake lamp sensor. Refer to BRAKE LAMP SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- First move the brake pedal toward the brake booster and the hold it in this position.
1 - Brake Pedal
2 - Pressure rod
3 - Retaining tabs.
-- Insert the Brake Servo Release Tool:T10006A as shown and pull in the direction of the driver seat. When doing this, counter-hold at the brake pedal (the pedal must not be allowed to move backward at this time). The mount retaining tabs -3- will thereby be pressed off the ball head of the push rod -2-.
For ease of illustration separating the brake pedal from the brake booster is shown with the pedal assembly removed.
-- Pull the Brake Servo Release Tool:T10006A and brake pedal together toward the driver seat (as a result, the brake pedal is removed from the pushrod ball head).
