Clean Bolts Before Reusing
Replace Damaged Bolts
Always replace self-locking bolts.
If old brake pads are being replaced with new ones, then it is necessary to check the brake rotor thickness for wear. Pay attention to the wear specifications for the brake rotor.
-- Check the brake rotor for wear. Refer to PR NUMBER ALLOCATION - BRAKES for the wear specification.
-- Insert the brake pad retaining springs.
-- Remove any protective film from the brake pad backing plate.
-- Insert brake pads.
-- Make sure that the brake pads are seated correctly in the retaining plates -arrows-.
The brake pads must be seated between both securing tabs on the brake pad retaining plate to provide the air gap between the brake rotor and brake pad.
-- Position the brake caliper.
The repair kit includes new self-locking hex that must be installed in all cases.
-- Secure the brake caliper using new self-locking bolts.
To tighten the bolts, use the :VAG1331 with :VAG1331/3 .
-- Install the brake hose and electrical wire into the bracket on the stub axle carrier.
Make sure that the brake hose is clipped in and mounted correctly on the combination bracket on the stub axle carrier. This is so that the brake hose does not jump out of the bracket by itself.
-- Switching on the ignition

- The request to enter a display group number appears in display field -1-.
- An entry keypad is shown in display field -2-.
-- Using the entry keypad, enter in the display field -2- "006" for the "display group number" and confirm by pressing the Q button. (Guide pistons together).
-- To exit the entry template, press the green arrow button on the lower left.
DTC memory checked, errors shown corrected and DTC memory erased.
-- With the ignition switched off, remove the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester from the diagnostic socket in the vehicle.
-- Install The Wheels. Refer to WHEEL, CHANGING AND MOUNTING / WHEEL BOLT TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .
-- Check the brake fluid level and fill if necessary.
