Camshaft, Measuring Axial Clearance: Procedure

-- Remove the camshaft housing, refer to REMOVING .

-- Place the camshaft to be checked into the camshaft housing.

-- Secure the Dial Gauge - 0-10 mm VAS 6079 with the Dial Gauge Holder VW 387 on the camshaft housing.

-- Press the camshaft against the dial gauge by hand.

-- Set dial gauge to "0".

-- Press camshaft off dial gauge and read the value:

• Axial play: 0.100 to 0.191 mm (0.0039 to.0075 in.)
