Test Sequence

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER .

-- Disconnect the connectors on the fuel injectors.

-- Remove the glow plug with the jointed socket 3220. Refer to GLOW PLUG .

-- Install Adapter V.A.G 1763/8 in place of the glow plugs.

-- Check compression pressure using the Compression Tester V.A.G 1763.

NOTE: Using tester operating instructions.

-- Operate the starter until the tester no longer indicates that the pressure is increasing.

Compression pressure:

New: 25-31 bar (363-450 psi) overpressure

Wear limit: 19 bar (276 psi) overpressure

Permissible difference between all cylinders: 5 bar (73 psi)

-- Install the glow plug with the jointed socket 3220. refer to GLOW PLUG .

-- Check the engine control module DTC memory. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

NOTE: By disconnecting the fuel injector connectors, faults will be stored in the DTC memory. Query the fault memory and erase, if necessary.
