Selector Mechanism, Performing Emergency Release

If voltage supply to selector lever lock solenoid is missing (battery discharged, fuse faulty) or the solenoid is faulty, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of "P" for example the vehicle cannot be moved because the parking lock is engaged.

-- Check fuses.

-- Check the battery voltage. Refer to [For transmission(s) 02E] Diagnosis and Testing .

-- If no malfunction is found in the voltage supply, perform selector mechanism emergency release as follows:

-- Unclip the selector lever boot and remove it -arrows-.

-- Stretch the selector lever boot upward over the handle.

-- Push the lever -B- toward the inside with a screwdriver -1- -arrow- and hold it in this position. This unlocks the shift lock solenoid -A-.

• The solenoid releases the selector lever.

-- With solenoid released, press the button on selector lever handle and shift selector lever out of "P".
