Upper Transverse Link
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque Wrench V.A.G 1332
Removing
-- Measure dimension from center of wheel to lower edge of wheel housing. Refer to WHEEL BEARING, LIFTING TO CURB WEIGHT POSITION .
-- Remove the wheel.
-- Remove coil spring. Refer to COIL SPRING .
-- Completely disengage wire -1- from bracket -2-.
-- Remove nut -6- and washer -5-.
-- Remove the bolt -3- and washer -4-.
-- Mark, e.g. using a felt-tip marker, position of eccentric bolt -arrow- to subframe.
-- Remove bolt -arrow-.
-- Remove upper transverse link.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
-- Install bolt -3- with washer -4-.
Transverse link connections may only be carried out of dimension between wheel hub center and lower edge of wheel housing, measured before assembly, is achieved. Refer to WHEEL BEARING, LIFTING TO CURB WEIGHT POSITION .
-- Note applied marking of eccentric bolt -arrow- to subframe.
Tightening specifications, refer to SUBFRAME, LOWER TRANSVERSE LINK, UPPER TRANSVERSE LINK, TIE ROD AND LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM SENSOR ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW, COUPE .
Tightening specifications, refer to SUBFRAME, DIAGONAL BRACES, CROSSMEMBER, LOWER TRANSVERSE LINK, UPPER TRANSVERSE LINK, TIE ROD AND LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM SENSOR ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW, ROADSTER .
Tightening specifications, refer to WHEEL BEARING HOUSING, WHEEL BEARING UNIT AND TRAILING ARM WITH MOUNTING BRACKET ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW .
Tightening specifications, refer to SHOCK ABSORBER AND COIL SPRING ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW .
