Adjusting Shim "S6" For Positioning Center Differential, Determining

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Ruler (2 pc.) T40100
- Digital Depth Gauge (for example VAS6087)
This adjustment is necessary when replacing the following parts:
- Transmission cover
- Spacer Sleeve
- Spur gear
- Tapered roller bearing on the spur gear
- The outer race/tapered roller bearing for the gear wheel mounting is installed inside the transmission cover.
- The spur gear and the spacer sleeve -1- are installed.
-- Mount the Ruler (2 pc.) T40100 on the clean joint surface on the transmission cover.
-- Measure from the spacer sleeve -1- to the Ruler using the digital depth gauge -2- (for example Digital Depth Gauge VAS6087). Press the spur gear downward, toward the transmission cover, in -direction of arrow-.
In this example, the dimension -a- = 5.13 mm.
-- Add the height of the Ruler (2 pc.) T40100 to this measurement.
