It is very important to make sure the rain/light recognition sensor -G397- is installed correctly if a windshield is being replaced. The coding in the rain/light recognition sensor must be changed if a different type of windshield is being installed. Refer to "Guided Fault Finding" 09 - electronic central electric, rain/light recognition sensor functions.

The low beams will switch on for reasons of safety even if the rain/light recognition sensor is faulty and the headlamp switch -E1- is set to AUTO.

The driver can set the sensitivity of the rain/light recognition sensor via the CAR menu in the MMI. It is possible to set the switch-on point in the exterior lamps menu. There are three possible settings: early, central and late.
