Front Final Drive, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

• Tightening specifications. Refer to FRONT FINAL DRIVE 0BM AND 0C1 .

-- Install the threaded connectors -1, 2 and 3- from the front final drive -A- /subframe -B-.

-- Position the subframe with the Engine/Gearbox JackVAG 1383A and line it up with the marking on the longitudinal members made earlier during removal.

-- Tighten the bolts on the subframe, the engine support and the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support to the tightening specification only. Do not tighten further. Refer to Front Suspension (The bolts will be tighten after the axle alignment).

-- Install the front Driveshaft. Refer to FRONT DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the universal joint on the steering gear. Refer to Steering .

-- Install the coupling rod. Refer to Front Suspension .

-- Install the power steering hydraulic oil line. Refer to Steering .

-- Fill the hydraulic fluid in the power steering reservoir before starting the vehicle for the first time. Refer to Steering .

-- Install the front wheels. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

-- If the vehicle has air suspension, deactivate the lift mode. Refer to Self-Leveling Suspension .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

• Tightening specifications. Refer to FRONT FINAL DRIVE 0BM AND 0C1 .

-- Install the threaded connectors -1, 2 and 3- from the front final drive -A- /subframe -B-.

-- Position the subframe with the Engine/Gearbox JackVAG 1383A and line it up with the marking on the longitudinal members made earlier during removal.

-- Tighten the bolts on the subframe, the engine support and the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support to the tightening specification only. Do not tighten further. Refer to Front Suspension (The bolts will be tighten after the axle alignment).

-- Install the front Driveshaft. Refer to FRONT DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the universal joint on the steering gear. Refer to Steering .

-- Install each Drive Axle. Refer to Front Suspension .

-- Install the power steering hydraulic oil line. Refer to Steering .

-- Fill the hydraulic fluid in the power steering reservoir before starting the vehicle for the first time. Refer to Steering .

-- Install the front wheels. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

-- Perform an axle alignment. Refer to Wheels, Tires, Wheel Alignment .

-- If the vehicle has air suspension, deactivate the lift mode. Refer to Self-Leveling Suspension .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the threaded connectors -1, 2 and 3- from the front final drive -A- /subframe -B-.

-- Position the subframe with the Engine/Gearbox JackVAG 1383A and line it up with the marking on the longitudinal members made earlier during removal.

-- Tighten the bolts on the subframe, the engine support and the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support to the tightening specification only. Do not tighten further. -- Install the front Driveshaft. Refer to FRONT DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the universal joint on the steering gear. Refer to [For engine(s) BAR, CTWB, BHK, CATA, CNRB, CTWA, CJWE, CJWC, CJWB] Steering .

-- Install each Drive Axle. Refer to [For engine(s) BAR, CTWB, BHK, CATA, CNRB, CTWA, CJWE, CJWC, CJWB] Front Suspension .

-- Install the power steering hydraulic oil line. Refer to [For engine(s) BAR, CTWB, BHK, CATA, CNRB, CTWA, CJWE, CJWC, CJWB] Steering .

-- Fill the hydraulic fluid in the power steering reservoir before starting the vehicle for the first time. Refer to [For engine(s) BAR, CTWB, BHK, CATA, CNRB, CTWA, CJWE, CJWC, CJWB] Steering .

-- Install the front wheels. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

-- Perform an axle alignment. Refer to Wheels, Tires, Wheel Alignment .

-- If the vehicle has air suspension, deactivate the lift mode. Refer to [For engine(s) BAR, CTWB, BHK, CATA, CNRB, CTWA, CJWE, CJWC, CJWB] Self-Leveling Suspension .
