- Follow the additional safety precautions when working with the side airbag. Refer to SIDE AIRBAG ADDITIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING .
-- Turn on the ignition.
-- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery with the ignition on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove left or right 2nd row seat.
- Seat beach (two-thirds bench). Refer to SECOND ROW, 3 PASSENGER OVERVIEW .
- Individual seat. Refer to SECOND ROW, 2 PASSENGER OVERVIEW .
-- Remove padding from backrest until screw -1- is reached.
- Individual seat. Refer to BACKREST COVER AND UPHOLSTERY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Seat beach (two-thirds bench). Refer to BACKREST COVER AND UPHOLSTERY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt -1- and remove the rear driver/passenger side airbag hook -2- out of the rear driver/passenger side airbag -4- -3- in the backrest.

-- Guide airbag cable -5- and remove the side airbag from the backrest frame.
