Front Three-Point Seat Belt, Removing And Installing: Installing

WARNING:

Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to PYROTECHNIC, ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM COMPONENTS, SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND TESTING PROCEDURES .

-- Engage belt roller/belt tensioner hook -1- in side panel cut-out -2-.

-- Install belt roller/belt tensioner screw and tighten it to the specification.

If three-point seat belt is being removed for accident repairs, replace screw.

WARNING:

Before handling belt tensioner units (for example, disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

-- Connect the connector -1- to the seat belt tensioner -3-.

-- Lock connector -1- with connector lock -2-.

NOTE:

Make sure the connectors are installed correctly and are secure.

Make sure the wires do not get caught.

-- Install cover cap -7- on seat belt height adjuster -6-.

If belt relay is being removed for accident repairs, replace screw -8-.
Belt relay -7- must swing by itself in carrier direction after tightening screw -8-.

-- Install belt guide -5-. Refer to FRONT BELT GUIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following:

-- Ensure three-point seat belt is not obstructed by wires, insulation, etc.

WARNING:

Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. Maintain personal safety when connecting the battery by staying out of airbag deployment areas, keeping a distance from belt tensioners/seat belts and ensuring no other people are in the vehicle interior at the moment when the battery is connected.

-- Switch on ignition.

-- Turn on the ignition and connect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Check belt height adjustment function. Refer to FRONT SEAT BELT HEIGHT ADJUSTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Check seat belt. Refer to SEAT BELTS, INSPECTING .
