Special tools and workshop equipment required

Procedure

-- Carefully remove the torque converter.

-- Insert Puller - Seal Lever VW681 directly behind the sealing lip of the sealing ring, so that the contact ring which is behind it is not damaged.

-- Remove torque converter shaft seal with Puller - Seal Lever VW681.

-- Coat outer circumference and sealing lips of sealing ring with ATF.

-- Using Seal Installer - Gearbox3295, drive in torque converter shaft seal as far as thrust piece stop.

NOTE:

If not present, install the additional covers for the torque converter bell housing. Refer to -item  3- (Covers).

These covers prevent dust and dirt from getting into the torque converter bell housing and the torque converter seal from leaking.
