Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Procedure

-- Remove the frame for the selector lever boot -1- -arrows-.

-- Place selector lever in position "S".

NOTE:

The clamping screw is only accessible when the selector lever is in "S".

Loosen the clamping screw approximately 1 turn but do not remove it.

-- Loosen selector lever cable clamping screw approximately 1 turn using SocketT40031.

-- Carefully move the selector lever forwards and backwards slightly without shifting to a different selector lever position.

NOTE:

This loosens the selector lever cable.

-- Switch ignition on.

The two following conditions must be fulfilled:

Conditions are not fulfilled:

-- Tighten the clamping screw -arrow- for the selector lever cable in this position using the socketT40031.

-- Connect Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information SystemVAS 5051 read out DTC memory, correct malfunctions in Guided Fault Finding if necessary.

-- Then perform selector lever cable adjustment again SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING 

Conditions are fulfilled:

NOTE:

Do not move the selector lever forward or backward while tightening the clamping screw otherwise the adjustment will be incorrect.

-- Tighten the bolt -arrow- on the selector lever cable using the socketT40031.

Rest of installation is performed in reverse order of removal.

-- Check the selector mechanism. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, CHECKING .
