Selector Lever Cable, Removing And Installing: Removing

NOTE:

Before removing selector lever cable, secure a cable on selector lever cable so that it can be threaded easily when installation.

-- Remove selector mechanism function unit. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM FUNCTION UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Push the rubber grommet -arrow- forward and out of the function unit.

-- Remove the rear noise insulation -2-. Refer to Exterior Equipment .

-- Remove the heat shield for the selector lever cable -arrows-.

6-Cylinder Vehicles 3.0L TDI Engine

-- Remove the particulate filter. Refer to PARTICULATE FILTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -1, 3 and 4- from the heat shield.

-- Turn heat shield slightly to side.

NOTE:

Ignore -2-.

-- Remove the bolts -3-.

-- Loosen the bolt -1- and remove the heat shield -2-.

All Vehicles

-- Remove the ball head -2- on the selector lever cable from the selector lever using the Pry Lever80-200.

-- Remove the clip -1- and the selector lever cable from the transmission.

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
